All CME providers have the option to offer accredited CME that meets certifying board Maintenance of Certification (MOC) or Continuing Certification program requirements. They are no longer required to submit MOC applications for approval to the certifying boards that have formed a collaboration with the Accreditation Council of Continuing Medical Education (ACCME). The process involves 1) registering CME activities that comply with the requirements in the Program and Activity Reporting System (PARS), attesting to compliance with the certifying board requirements 2) collecting individual learner completion data and submitting it via PARS 3) agree to abide by the certifying board/ACCME requirements for use of the data along with agreeing to allow the ACCME to publish data about the activity and 4) agree to comply with requests for information about the activity if the activity is selected for an audit.
