YES, I CAN!

Pathways to Careers in Medicine

Physicians and PAs: encourage students in grades 6 – 12 from underrepresented minority groups to consider a career in medicine – with the long-term aim of reducing health disparities and improving patient outcomes in underserved areas.

Making an Impact in Underserved Areas

Underrepresented minorities include African Americans, Hispanic Americans, and Native Americans, who make up nearly a third of the U.S. population—but only 13% of physicians.

Through school visits and intentional follow-up for advice and mentoring, physician members of MSV who participate in Pathways to Medicine aim to impact the number of clinicians in underserved areas—reducing healthcare disparities and improving patient outcomes.
