MSV offers a number of free benefits to its members including:

Practice Services Helpline (800 | 746-6768, ext. 1060 or by e-mail)
The MSV members-only coding helpline provides physicians and their staff assistance with questions pertaining to coding and documentation, general practice management issues, office policies, etc.

Documentation and coding assessments
MSV staff is here to help members with the innumerable aspects of proper coding. MSV also offers reviews of coding and medical record documentation to help practices determine if they are correctly following guidelines from the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS) and other payers for appropriate billing. These reviews help strengthen the financial health of the practice and offers protection from the risk of audits with medical chart reviews. This also provides the opportunity to identify areas of improvement in the documentation, coding and billing processes, identifying areas to use national best practices. The chart review includes:

A quality review of each chart's documentation and coding by a certified professional medical coder.

A detailed audit report of the findings along with recommendations and cross references to coding guidelines.

A consultative session to review the audit report and provide training and education based on the findings.

An assessment by a Certified Professional Coder will help your practice determine if there has been any inaccurate coding or any other weaknesses in medical record documentation that may expose the practice to problems with payers.

ICD-10 assessments
Although the new Oct. 1, 2015 ICD-10 implementation date may seem like it is a long time from now but it is never too early to being preparing for ICD-10. Start getting ready now by letting MSV do a clinical documentation ICD-10 assessment.

A clinical documentation ICD-10 assessment will:

validate sufficient ICD-10 documentation;

identify ICD-10 clinical documentation deficiencies;

identify ICD-10 training specific to your needs;

avoid an increase in denied or unbillable claims; and

prevent an interruption in revenue.
