One Care is hosting a series of free educational forums on prescription drug abuse specifically geared for health care providers. Attendees will have the opportunity to improve learning deficits to promote safer opioid prescribing with sessions led by Sarah Melton, PharmD, BCPP, BCACP, CGP, FASCP. 

Overall Conference Objectives: 

  • Incorporate overdose prevention education and naloxone rescue kits into medical and pharmacy practice by educating patients about overdose risk reduction and furnishing naloxone rescue kits
  • Evaluate current scientific approaches to the diagnosis and treatment of substance use disorders
  • Describe licensing boards’ required approaches to pain management
  • Compare options available for treatment of opioid dependence (i.e., methadone maintenance therapy, buprenorphine, naltrexone) with a focus on safety, efficacy and appropriate prescribing precautions
  • Describe the universal precautions for prescribing controlled substances
  • Interpret prescription drug monitoring reports as a routine practice in patient-centered care
