The Virginia Department of Medical Assistance Services (DMAS) is conducting in-person informational sessions for providers on the Addiction and Recovery Treatment Services transformation: “ARTS 101 – The Basics.” These sessions will provide a general overview of Virginia Medicaid and FAMIS ARTS benefit transformation and what providers need to know for the implementation of the expanded services for over 1.1 million Medicaid and FAMIS members on April 1, 2017. The ARTS sessions will cover the reimbursement structure and an overview of the up to 400% increase in rates for many of the substance use services! Virginia Medicaid leaders will provide updates on: 

  • Increasing rates up to 400% for many of the substance use services. Some service rates are higher than commercial plans!
  • New provider requirements and new payment models.
  • Upcoming training sessions for providers to reduce the frustration in helping individuals suffering from the disease of addiction. Sessions will review the new payment model and tools to better help individuals and is founded on evidence-based treatment including American Society of Addiction Medicine (ASAM) criteria as well as Medication Assisted Treatment (MAT) for opioid addiction.
