Thanks to the ongoing advocacy efforts of MSV members, the MSV was able to successfully achieve a compromise related to the PMP.  It maintains a physician’s ability to name a staff member to check the PMP on their behalf. The bill also calls for a PMP check for opioid prescriptions lasting more than 7 days or more than 14 days if issued after surgery or an invasive procedure. This bill also includes a sunset in 2022.  Importantly, there has been supreme acknowledgement for the MSV and physician community.

Physicians are uniquely qualified to lead our communities on the journey of healing our opioid problem.
