The Medical Society of Virginia (MSV) is a professional membership association representing physicians across the Commonwealth.  The organization is committed to advocating for physicians on important policies and issues to ensure Virginia is the best place to practice medicine and receive care.

The Medical Society of Virginia is seeking a Membership Coordinator to execute administrative and relationship building responsibilities for our nationally recognized medical student section.  This role will work with association members and internal teams to further organizational strategic goals in the membership and engagement departments.  Primary responsibilities of this role include:

  • Manage the day-to-day activities to support membership renewal and retention:
    • Customer service contact with members and stakeholders
    • Ensure MSV’s customer relationship management system is updated with relevant membership data
    • Oversee portions of the membership renewal campaign
    • Communicate with physician members to determine desired engagement pathways through the organization.
  • Coordinate and manage the activities of the MSV medical student section requiring some weekend and overnight travel
  • Coordinate and facilitate the medical student membership dues transmissions to the American Medical Association (AMA)
  • Coordinate hotel rooms, travel arrangements,  catering and reimbursements for medical student leader weekend retreats and trips
  • Coordinate and evolve the medical student new member data entry and onboarding processes
  • Facilitate the intake process for physician members who seek deeper levels of involvement and collect, track and record organizational engagement metrics
  • Provide quality, front-line service to customers who contact MSV; respond to oral, written and email inquiries and provide prompt/accurate information concerning the organization’s full range of products and services
  • Maintain the integrity of the CRM including daily data entry and various data projects
  • Proactively communicate with individual physician members
  • Complete projects and initiatives on behalf of the greater organization as needed

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree
  • Database experience
  • Excellent communication, relationship building and listening skills
  • Good critical thinking and computer skills
  • Plenty of drive, initiative and motivation
  • An honest and trustworthy manner
  • Attention to detail
  • The ability to research and analyze information
  • Strategic thinking ability
  • Public speaking experience

Preferred Qualifications:

  • At least two years of experience managing projects and/or relationships
  • Healthcare or non-profit experience is a plus
  • Energized and excited by the prospect of fostering the growth of a community segment
  • Experience working with volunteer communities
  • Ability to work in a team setting in a fast-paced and competitive environment
  • Excellent service and collaboration skills delivered with a professional demeanor
  • Ability to see diverse perspectives and evaluate situations from another’s point of view
  • Ability to approach situations in an entrepreneurial way and find opportunity for improvement/change
  • Proven experience managing multiple, competing priorities while working towards a goal
