The recently enacted HITECH Act expands upon HIPAA privacy and security standards, including requirements that patients be notified when their health information has been breached. Students of this course will learn about these new requirements to prepare their practice for enforcement deadlines for the various new standards that are staggered across several years, including a deadline of Feb. 17, 2010 for several major provisions.
