ICD-10 compliance delay proposed
12 April 2012
The Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) recently proposed pushing back the compliance deadline for conversion to the ICD-10 diagnostic and procedural codes by one year to Oct. 1, 2014. HHS proposed the compliance date change to give providers and other covered entities more time to prepare and fully test their systems to ensure a smooth and coordinated transition.
HHS also announced that it issued a proposed rule pursuant to a Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA) mandate that all health insurance plans be numerically tagged with a unique health plan identifier. Click here
