Free webinar features ConnectVirginia's Direct Messaging service

On Wed., July 25, Virginia Health Quality Center (VHQC) and Virginia HIT (VHIT) will host a free webinar for hospitals and health care providers who wish to learn more about the statewide Health Information Exchange (HIE) initiative led by ConnectVirginia. Through their Direct Messaging service, health care professionals have the ability to quickly share and view patient information electronically. The ability to exchange clinical information with other providers is a key component of achieving meaningful use of electronic health records (EHRs) and qualifying for the CMS Medicare and Medicaid EHR incentives.

The 45-minute webinar begins at 12:00 pm and will feature Michelle White, program manager of ConnectVirginia, and Kim Barnes, coordinator of the Office of Information Management and Health IT of Virginia Department of Health. Ms. White and Ms. Barnes will introduce a new phase of the Direct Messaging service and demonstrate how to use the system. They will also discuss the benefits of Direct Messaging for healthcare providers and share success stories from those who are currently using the system.

Registration is required. We encourage you to register now and to participate with others because a limited number of lines will be available. Please note: Registration will close at 5:00 p.m. on Mon., July 23. For more information on the webinar, click here.
