Register for MSV's 2011 Annual Meeting today

The Medical Society of Virginia’s (MSV) 2011 Annual Meeting is Oct. 27-30. Register for the annual meeting at www.msv.org/annualmeeting by Oct. 21 to participate.

New this year . . . Help design opportunities in team-based care
This year's meeting features Kent Bradley, M.D., M.P.H., M.B.A., former Deputy Commander, 30th Medical Brigade (Forward), Operation Iraqi Freedom, and James Roudebush, M.D., M.P.H., Lieutenant General, USAF (retired), who will lead the educational focused on team-based care dynamics and opportunities for Virginia physicians. During the session, participants will learn how to define the principles of team-based care and the associated implications for population health, outline opportunities for physician leadership in achieving better care coordination and how to integrate team-based care principles into patient care and identify strategies for improving care coordination within various scenarios, including patient hand-offs between health system and community physicians, managing chronic illnesses and working with non-physician providers. Attend this session to learn how to enhance the capacity for collaboration and also about leadership and design opportunities for enhancing team dynamics in medicine.

During this year’s educational session, attendees will also have the opportunity to learn more about the prescription monitoring program (PMP) in Virginia in a session led by Ralph Orr, who manages the program. Mr. Orr will review how the PMP can be used to identify possible drug-seeking behavior, as well as the future goals of the program. Participants will get a demonstration of how to use the PMP as a resource in patient-centered care.

Resolutions due Sept. 12
Annual Meeting resolutions should be submitted online at www.msv.org/annualmeetingresolutions no later than Sept. 12. Resolution submission instructions, a sample resolution and other pertinent information is available on the site. Please reference the MSV strategic plan and the MSV policy compendium when preparing your resolution.
