Health care groups aim to improve physician workforce levels

The Virginia Department of Health (VDH) and several health care organizations have banded together to form a recruitment and retention collaborative team. This team aims to improve health care recruitment and retention initiatives in Virginia, with an emphasis on medically underserved areas.

Organizations that are involved in this team include: Virginia Community Healthcare Association; Southwest Virginia Graduate Medical Education Consortium; Carilion Family Medicine Residency; Virginia Statewide Area Health Education Center; Virginia Health Care Foundation and Virginia Rural Health Association. Medical schools include: University of Virginia, School of Medicine; Virginia Commonwealth University, Medical College of Virginia; Eastern Virginia Medical School and Edward Via Virginia College of Osteopathic Medicine.
