CMS Recovery Audit Contractor Program: Are you a target?
22 January 2009
CMS's Recovery Audit Contractor (RAC) program is coming to Virginia. Are you ready? The RAC program seeks to identify and recover improper payments made on claims of health care services provided to Medicare beneficiaries. Hospitals, physician practices, nursing homes and any other provider or supplier that bills Medicare Parts A and B are at risk.
Join the Medical Society of Virginia’s (MSV) Rose Moore, CPC-I, CCP and representatives from the Virginia Hospital and Healthcare Association (VHHA) to learn strategies for protecting your organization’s reimbursement and:
• Gain knowledge on how the RAC program operates and impacts providers.
• Learn proactive measures for preventing unnecessary risks.
• Learn specific steps to minimize, avoid and prepare for RAC-related Medicare claims denials.
• Understand the E&M documentation guidelines for assigning CPT codes.
• Learn how to prepare for and respond to government and commercial carrier audits.
