Board of Medicine


The Board of Medicine is the self-policing agency for Virginia physicians whose duties include the licensing of practitioners, evaluation of complaints against practitioners for misconduct, and establishment of regulations governing the practice of medicine in the state. The Board has ultimate statutory authority to revoke or suspend a physician’s license to practice medicine should such a complaint be considered valid.
