Medical records

Medical records and other vital information that physicians maintain constitute perhaps the most valuable assets for both their practices and patients. Managing these records is a considerable task for health care providers due in part to the sheer volume of information that needs to be appropriately processed and maintained.

It is critical for the health care industry to preserve the integrity and confidentiality of these records in order to ensure patient confidence and consistent care. Additionally, it is often important for physicians to facilitate public policy and public health initiatives by sharing information maintained in their records as required or permitted by law. Issues faced by physician practices include record retention timeframes, providing patient access to records and charging for copying records, only to name a few.
