ICD-10

The Medical Society of Virginia (MSV) is available to assist you in getting familiar with ICD-10 so you can be prepared when it is time to replace ICD-9 as the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA) adopted code used for inpatient settings, inpatient hospital procedures, physicians' offices and other outpatient settings for coding diagnosis. This switch is required to take place on Oct. 1, 2013 because the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services believes ICD-10 will provide better code specificity. MSV would like to help make the transition to ICD-10 as seemless as possible.
