MSV thanks Del. Nutter for introducing coordination of benefits bill

16 January 2008

MSV offers its thanks to Del. Dave Nutter (R- Christiansburg) for introducing HB 1419 that would amend the statutes governing private insurance carriers to prohibit an insurance carrier plan or health maintenance organization from delaying, denying or pending a claim on the grounds of coordination of benefits.

Practice administrators have requested that MSV pursue this legislation because some health insurers will not forward payment on certain claims because the insurer states that the covered member has not completed a COB questionaire. In the coming days, MSV will work with practice administrators to coordinate their involvement in committee hearings to support HB 1419. If you're interested in weighing-in in support of the COB bill, contact Amy Hewett, assistant director of political advocacy.
