What value do I get for my membership?
Can you put a price on a stable and competitive medical malpractice market, strong peer review protections, licensure protection or maintaining Medicaid payments? MSV has been instrumental in helping physicians become elected or appointed to state roles to ensure that our interests are represented when it matters most. Plus, MSV is continually working to provide meaningful education across the commonwealth on topics like substance abuse and health information technology. These are just a few of the things that we wouldn’t have without MSV working on our behalf.

How does MSV help my patients?
MSV played an instrumental role in banning smoking in restaurants, an important public health initiative, and is focused on team-based care initiatives in this year’s General Assembly. MSV monitors hundreds of bills each year to prevent new legislation that would have unintended negative consequences on patients. The MSV Foundation is dedicated to quality improvement initiatives, patient education and services such as prescription assistance for patients in need. 

Won’t MSV do these things with or without my membership?
The membership of individual physicians throughout the commonwealth is crucial in supporting the initiatives of MSV on our behalf. Your membership is your show of support for MSV’s ongoing efforts to make Virginia the best place to practice medicine and receive care. There are also a number of members-only benefits that come along with being a part of MSV. 

What are some of the members-only benefits?
With so many facets to physicians’ roles in today’s health care environment, it is impossible to be an expert in everything. MSV keeps members up-to-date with timely publications, alerts and social media, as well as access to members-only Web site resources. They offer educational courses and seminars at member discounted rates, along with access to the policy helpline for practice and consulting services. As technology continues to present inevitable change, MSV provides education and support for health I.T. implementation and meaningful use. Isn’t it nice to know there are experts ready to offer support when you need it?
