Concerning the below, we are required to ask permission from the person who owes the debt to speak to their POA. If they cannot give us that approval verbally (after we verify that they are the debtor), the person with the POA would need to fax, e-mail or mail us a copy of the POA. This is covered by both the FDCPA and HIPPA. If we did not do this, then we could be sued if we spoke to someone that did not have that POA. We cannot tell by just a phone conversation with someone else who has the POA. Hope this helps to answer the question.

Someone needs to explain that if they (IC) are asked if they would like to speak to the person's POA, there is a reason, and to say they would first need the person's permission is about as incompetent as it comes
